Gamelyn Games adds zombies to the Tiny Epic series

Seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harry is coming out with a Zombie themed something. Movie, TV show, game, PJs.

But now zombies have invaded the Tiny Epic world. Fortunate for all of us, if there was any one that can do it up right, it’s the gang at Gamelyn Games. The Kickstarter for Tiny Epic Zombies is here with an estimated delivery soon after, April 2018 for the PnP, Oct 2018 for the physical game.

There are a whopping 5 modes of play:

1. Cooperative team-play with game controlled Zombies.

2. Cooperative team-play with Zombies controlled by a non-team player.

3. Competitive free-for-all with game controlled Zombies.

4. Competitive free-for-all with Zombies controlled by a player.

5. Solo.

Players will have to complete 3 objectives before the zombies over run the mall courtyard in order to win. If a player dies, that character becomes a zombie and now works toward the destruction of the other players.

All of the add-ons in the Kickstarter are part of the pledges, so you don’t have to worry about adding items on to your Pledge Manager in order to receive them. It’s all inclusive.

New Additions to The Mega Meeple Studio

Well, I have spent the past 10 days recording a “How To Play” rules video for a game that just recently was delivered to backers, the Lords of Hellas. Think area control meets greek mythology – with kick butt minis.

I had finished recording all the wide shots and I wanted to see how it looked on my computer before I started with close ups. Upon looking at the raw footage, I was not happy about the lighting. It was too dim and what bright light was there cast some pretty harsh shadows. Also since the camera had less than optimum lighting, the focus was off and some shots looked grainy.

In other words, it sucked.

Now I’m pretty new to this. I’m constantly learning but most of my process is learning by doing. I can watch all the How To videos on YouTube but until I actually physically attempt something, it doesn’t click in my brain.

So I took to Amazon and YouTube and did some research on studio lights. I made an administrative decision, purchased the light set, and had it in my hands 3 days later. I am now excited anew to go back and re-film all those segments so I can play with my new toys.

Here it is, the newest additions to The Mega Meeple Studios:

The Mega Meeple Podcast – Episode 033 – Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (guest Seth Locke aka FatNastyNerd)

In this episode, Thomas and Al talk about board games with apps, both as an assistant and as an integral part of the gaming experience. We talk about how and when the mix of digital and physical mediums complements one another. We also consider why some people may be hesitant to embrace such a thing. Hey, you got your app in my board game! Well, you got your board game in my app! It’s the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups of gaming. Does technology have a place in hobby gaming or never the two shall meet?

The discussion continues with this episode’s guest, Seth Locke of FatNastyNerd Runthroughs YouTube channel. He also talks about his experiences as a content creator and what he’s learned in the past 3+ years.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What is your opinion about board games that integrate an app? Leave your comment below or post on any of our social media pages.
